Applied Freediving Courses
Spearfisherman Technique Course
Duration: 1 Day
Description: This 1 day pool course is aimed to spearfishermen who want to extend their bottom times while hunting and improve their efficiency while swimming.
Most spearfishermen are self taught, which means they buy a gun and they try to figure out how to hunt for fish and how to freedive at the same time. Most of the times they spend a lot of energy to get to depth since they have little knowledge about streamlining, finning technique, duck diving and in general how to move efficiently while submerged. Often they counterbalance this by adding too much lead to their weight belts, which results in a very hard ascent. In addition to this, they have little awareness of their own breathing efficiency and capacity and how to use the breathing to relax and therefore have short bottom times.
During this course you will learn:
- how to breathe correctly before a dive and how to take an efficient last breath.
- how to hold your breath comfortably, safely, and extend your bottom times.
- how to gauge recovery (surface) times in between dives.
- how to do efficient duck dives in order to start the dive in the easiest way.
- how to fin correctly underwater in order to cover a bigger distance with less energy
Content:
- 2 pool sessions
- 1 theory session
Cost: R700 (excl. access to the pool)
